    Proyecto Transfronteras

Jan 18, 2020 This was my first time volunteering with this organization. I taught an A1 level Spanish class to a small group of students from the Philippines. I instructed a lesson on Ser vs. Estar and Tener in the present and then helped them fill out a worksheet and played a few exercise games. After the language class, there was a cooking class that I assisted with as well. I am really enjoying helping with this organization so far because they offer Spanish classes to domestic workers from the Philippines and English classes to South American immigrants. I look forward to volunteering more!

    Big Creek Missions

Mar 10, 2019 During the week 3/4 to 3/8, I volunteered at Big Creek Missions in Big Creek, Kentucky. On 3/6, I stayed at Big Creek's main building and reorganized a few of their utility closets. With them being a smaller mission, they don't have enough staff or the money to hire people to do tasks like these. My group then went to the apartment complex they sponsor for those with low income. We made house visits as there were a lot of older people living there who have no one to speak with. We also played some games with them. I volunteered from 10 AM until 6 PM this day.

    Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity

Oct 27, 2018 It was "Make a Difference Day" at Grand Valley State University so I had signed up to volunteer but I didn't know where I would be until that morning. So once I was paired with Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity, I learned that we were going to be helping to build a home. The main thing that we did was nail some walls the existing foundation that they had. It was cool being able to work with the homeowner to be as well.
